Formal Wear

Formal wear is the classic and timeless style which is associated with work and office(think yuppies of the 1980's/1990's America). Formal wear makes it difficult for us to understand the person in front of us since the look is reserved and often hides the true personalty of the person. The most commonly used colors are neutrals, black, grey, brown, beige, white and various dark colors. Fabrics that are often used are high quality and rigid. Plain fabrics, long flowing sleeved blouses in plain colors, check or stripe...never polka dots which is to casual and unprofessional. Formal wear should never mention sexuality because we must convince people with our personality and our brain never our sexuality. Skirts are never mini and must always reach the knee....on the other hand long skirts to the floor are to relaxed and look like beach wear. Heels are thick and stable for walking and working. The bag is rigid (think Hermes Kelly bag). The image we project sells us and our credibility depends on the way we dress. When you meet someone you have 8 seconds to make a good impression. The way you dress is your packaging that covers our personalty (ex. heart print/shapes are bad since it may look like you are a little girl and need to grow up) Wide shoulders have long been a symbol of power and professionalism and one can find these looks often in men's and women's suiting.

Evening Mood Boards

evening looks should be of high quality fabrics and flowing materials with no cottons or wools. evening looks where heavily developed in the 1930's. Luxury accesories, parures shoes with thin heals, and a rigid pochette. In the 1970's trousers where introduced for women to wear for acceptable evening wear. Here are some classic looks I have created in 5 mood boards

Casual Looks

A few mood boards I have created with daily casual look, evening looks and formal business looks for a fashion panorama class in Paris. The casual look was developed in the 1980's with comfortable, simple, and practical designs, looks and fabrics. Casual wear can be worn about everywhere which consists of Jeans, t-shirts, sweatshirts, and clothing which has derived from the sports world. Large and comfortable clothing which let the body breath are often seen on the younger generations who wear nothing but casual clothing. Castelbajac, jeremy scott are examples are designers who have taken the casual wear lifestyle look to heart with their colorful clothing adorned with logos and slogans. Purses are often large and soft for casual wear attire. I prefer to make the casual wear have a sense of class and style while still being comfortable.

Love affair with Viktor & Rolf

I am still beyond in love with Viktor & Rolf. I would frame one of these dresses as a piece of artwork in my house. I would even get married in one of these dresses. They should make it in white for a funky wedding dress... just speechless with the endless creativity. I love how they are from Amsterdam and they have kept their main headquarters there and did not move to Milan, London, Paris or New York. They have given their own community a fashion claim to fame. Netherlands is such an interesting country and its nice to see talent emerge from all corners of Europe and the globe. Not to mention the fact Im in love with there scents Flowerbomb and Antidote... I can not wait to check out there new ready-to-wear line...
